About the role
We’re seeking a highly organised and confident Payroll Officer to join our growing global team at WiseTech Global.
Internal Title: Global Payroll Specialist - APAC
This is a truly international payroll role, where you’ll own compliant, accurate and timely payroll delivery across multiple APAC countries, partnering closely with internal stakeholders and external payroll providers.
This role suits a payroll professional who is naturally curious, enjoys navigating complexity across regions, and wants to deepen their exposure to global payroll operations in a fast paced, high growth environment. You’ll be part of a collaborative payroll community with weekly rituals to share regional challenges, regulatory changes and best practice across countries, because in global payroll, curiosity really does set great operators apart.
In this role, you will support payroll across a diverse APAC footprint. You will join weekly global payroll meetings to discuss country-specific legislation, resolve complex cases, implement system improvements, and share regional lessons learned.
What you’ll do
- Own end to end payroll operations across multiple countries (processing, audits, controls, reporting, year end).
- Ensure compliance with complex tax, social security/pensions, superannuation and statutory reporting obligations across jurisdictions; maintain robust internal controls and audit readiness.
- Manage monthly payroll cycles, reconciliations, journals, year end review and variance analysis; partner with Finance on close activities.
- Be the escalation point for complex queries (benefits, garnishments, parental leave, terminations, shadow payroll, mobility/expats).
- Drive process improvement, standardisation and automation to enhance accuracy, efficiency and scalability (document SOPs, strengthen controls, reduce defects).
- Collaborate with HRIS / People Operations to improve data quality, integrations and change control; support vendor management and SLAs.
What you’ll bring
- APAC payroll experience or strong domestic payroll foundations with ambition to step into global payroll.
- 2–3 years minimum APAC experience is advantageous.
- Proven end to end payroll execution with impeccable attention to detail and data integrity.
- Intermediate+ Excel (lookups, pivots, reconciliation techniques); comfort with large datasets.
- Experience with payroll/HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, SAP, Workday, Oracle, Ceridian) and third party providers; strong vendor/stakeholder management.
- Practical knowledge of international payroll compliance (tax, social security, benefits, statutory reporting) in fast paced, high growth environments.
- A collaborative, inquisitive mindset, strong communication skills and a continuous improvement lens.
