We are united in our mission to create breakthrough products that enable and empower those who own and operate the supply chains of the world. More than 18,000 logistics organizations use our software solutions, including 24 of the top 25 global freight forwarders and 41 of the top 50 global third-party logistics providers. We’re an engineer-led company focusing on building secure, scalable products. Therefore, data analytics is critical to the function of the international supply chain.
About the role:
As a Microsoft SSAS expert in our data engineering and analytics team, you will play a critical role in the design and development of enterprise-level analytics solutions, with a strong focus on building scalable, high-performance SSAS-driven solutions. You will work closely with business and technical teams to analyze complex data sources, recommend efficient data integration and processing strategies, and contribute to semantic model development that supports prescriptive and predictive analytics.
You’ll be responsible for profiling and interpreting data, transforming business requirements into meaningful analytical models, and developing prototypes for dashboards and reporting solutions. Your work will ensure data is presented in a way that is both technically sound and business-friendly.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade SSAS OLAP models, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and usability across large and complex datasets.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into effective multidimensional and tabular data models using SSAS.
- Implement SQL, DAX, and MDX logic to support complex business metrics, KPIs, and aggregations.
- Monitor and optimize SSAS model performance, including partitioning strategies, compression, and indexing.
- Ensure proper implementation of row-level security and role-based access in SSAS models to meet compliance and data privacy standards.
- Integrate SSAS models with visualization tools like Power BI and Excel.
- Collaborate with data engineers and data owners to validate source-to-target mappings and drive consistency in data transformation and integration pipelines.
- Develop robust testing frameworks to ensure ongoing data quality and accuracy through automated and manual validation processes.
- Create technical documentation and metadata definitions for SSAS models, measures, and calculated columns.
- Contribute to overall data platform design by applying data warehousing and dimensional modelling best practices.
- Support analytics enablement by promoting best practices in SSAS development, performance tuning, and semantic modelling across teams.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience building and optimizing SSAS models in enterprise environments.
- 5+ years enterprise experience with Power BI as front-end reporting tools integrated with SSAS models.
- Strong command of DAX, and MDX for creating measures, calculated columns, and KPIs.
- Advanced SQL skills including writing complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning, and interpreting execution plans.
- Proven expertise in the Microsoft BI stack: SQL Server, SSAS, SSIS, and Power BI.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, dimensional modelling, and data integration design patterns.
- Experience with data profiling and statistical analysis across disparate data sources.
- Working knowledge of data governance, security, and privacy principles within analytics environments. -Experience designing and implementing data quality control mechanisms and source-to-target data validation. -Good grasp of data documentation practices, including data dictionaries and transformation logic.
- Bonus: Familiarity with Python/R for light data analysis or prototyping; analytics data warehouse/lakehouse concepts and systems such as CDC, Parquet, and Apache Iceberg; and distributed processing frameworks such as Apache Spark are highly advantageous but not essential.
