London, UK, November 22, 2012 — CargoWise®, a global leader in technology solutions for logistics service providers (LSPs), congratulates global freight management company Geodis Wilson on winning the New Process Innovation Award at the 2012 Global Freight Awards announced last night in the Planit Embankment Gardens in London.

One of seven finalists in the New Process Innovation category, Geodis Wilson was recognized for a €20million project which will see separate software applications replaced with a single, centralized corporate database based on the ediEnterprise platform from CargoWise. The project was recognized because of the ambitiousness of its approach and the resulting productivity improvements which are expected to reach 25 percent across the company’s global operations.

In accepting the award, Geodis Wilson CIO Håkan Nilsson expressed his delight at the fact that the project had achieved a level of recognition which he hoped would inspire others to take a more innovative and comprehensive approach to the challenges faced by the freight forwarding and logistics industry.

“Of course we’re delighted to receive this award, and also delighted that the industry is recognizing the importance of process innovation as a key driver of the industry,” Nilsson said. “I hope awards like this will help to drive the market forward into an era of greater productivity driven by innovation.”

In responding to the award, CargoWise CEO Richard White emphasized the crucial role innovation plays in ensuring that the logistics and freight forwarding industry continues to develop tools and procedures to ensure the success of its customer base, and ultimately of the entire global economy.

“Logistics is at times a business that seeks to minimize IT costs and innovation can often suffer because of this,” White says. “Geodis Wilson is a shining example of how a significant focus on IT leadership and innovation and a strong IT investment program can improve processes, lower overall costs and drive business success.”

Simon Clark, Vice President of Business Development – Europe for CargoWise, also congratulated Yusen Logistics, which secured a place as finalist in the Environment Award, and SBS Worldwide which was recognized as a finalist in the prestigious Freight Forwarder of the Year category.

“The only way to succeed is to be pushing constantly at the boundaries of what you think is possible,” says Clark. “Whenever people in such a deep-rooted and established industry are brave and creative enough to take an innovative approach to a challenge, we think it’s important that they be recognized.
