Chicago, USA, October 2, 2012 — CargoWise®, a global leader in technology solutions for logistics service providers (LSPs), announced the adoption of a hosted version of ediEnterprise by long term customer RIM Logistics, Ltd.
RIM Logistics first began using ediEnterprise in 2007 as an internally hosted system throughout its U.S. operations, when it switched over from CargoWise Forwarder 4.0 legacy software. This latest implementation in the company’s new Milwaukee office and warehouse, which went live in May 2012, is the first time the U.S.-based logistics service provider has taken advantage of CargoWise’s hosted software offering.
“We chose to do a hosted solution this time around because of how quickly it can be rolled out, and so we could get some experience with software-as-a-service on a small implementation,” says Mike Brown, Vice President Supply Chain for RIM Logistics. “From a management standpoint, a hosted system is much easier than setting up a new server. Cost savings were a factor, but the real motivation this time was more of a time constraint issue. We knew we could get it up and running quickly.”
According to Brown the Milwaukee rollout will serve as a proof of concept, which may ultimately result in hosted software being adopted in other RIM Logistics offices.
“We’re delighted that we were able to offer RIM Logistics the support it needed to quickly implement ediEnterprise in its new Milwaukee offices so that it could respond in a timely manner to a new business opportunity,” says Gene Gander, Vice President Business Development-Americas for CargoWise. “This implementation enables RIM Logistics to focus on the needs of their customers while we look after the software hosting for them. Rim’s choice to expand with ediEnterprise and CargoWise Hosting reflects the maturity of our software offering, and the trust in which we are held by our customers.”
