At WiseTech, we know that some of the best innovations come from people who’ve lived and breathed logistics – product managers who understand what works, what doesn’t, and where technology can make the biggest impact.

Maggie Li, Product Manager for our eCommerce solution, is one of those people. With a background in freight forwarding and eCommerce, she’s using her industry expertise to build smarter, more efficient solutions for our customers.

A career rooted in logistics

Maggie once considered becoming a veterinarian, but with a family deeply connected to logistics, she was drawn to its complexity and global reach. That curiosity led her to postgraduate studies in logistics and supply chain management – a decision that would shape her career.

She began her journey in freight forwarding, where she gained hands-on experience in airfreight operations, customs clearance, and eCommerce. It didn’t take long for her to realize that logistics is so much more than moving goods from A to B.

“The logistics industry is incredibly dynamic. A small change in one area can create ripple effects throughout the entire supply chain. Adapting to these challenges was a major learning curve,” Maggie explains.

After building a successful career in freight forwarding, Maggie was ready for something new. When she learned about an opportunity at WiseTech, she saw a chance to apply her industry expertise in a fresh way – helping shape the technology that powers global supply chains.

Turning logistics experience into technology innovations

The rapid rise of eCommerce continues to transform global trade, intensifying challenges associated with high shipment volumes – such as paperless bulk clearance and visibility gaps.

Before joining WiseTech, Maggie saw these issues firsthand as an eCommerce Solutions Consultant, where inefficiencies often led to delays, financial penalties, and frustrated customers. Now, as a Product Manager, she helps solve these pain points by partnering with developers to build smart, scalable solutions.

“The key to successful collaboration is understanding both sides – what logistics professionals need and how developers can build it,” she explains. “My experience in freight forwarding allows me to clearly define problems and help create solutions that make a real difference.”

One project she’s particularly proud of is automating highly complex bulk customs clearance and compliance processes that previously slowed customers down with manual work and inefficiencies.

“As eCommerce grows, logistics must evolve to keep up with rising customer expectations. Automation and real-time compliance aren’t just trends – they’re the future. We’re leading the way in making customs and compliance processes faster, more seamless, and much more scalable,” she says.

A culture of continuous learning

For Maggie, one of the best parts of working at WiseTech is being in an environment where learning never stops. She’s always looked for ways to expand her expertise, and here, she’s surrounded by people who share that mindset. Continuous learning isn’t just encouraged – it’s part of WiseTech’s DNA.

This commitment has been invaluable to her. She regularly taps into WiseTech Academy to deepen her knowledge of CargoWise, stay up to date with compliance changes, and explore new ways to improve eCommerce logistics.

“The training resources at WiseTech make it easy for logistics professionals like me to transition into technology,” Maggie explains.

“CargoWise is also intuitive and user-friendly, which means less time navigating complex systems and more time focusing on what really matters – ideating, problem-solving, and building great products that address real industry challenges.”

The future of logistics technology

The logistics industry is evolving fast, driven by AI-powered trade compliance, predictive analytics, and real-time freight tracking. Looking ahead, Maggie sees these innovations as essential for creating smarter, more resilient supply chains.

“WiseTech isn’t just a software company – it’s redefining logistics,” she says. “By integrating order management, freight forwarding, customs, and warehouse management into a single, intelligent platform, we’re helping businesses move away from fragmented processes and toward a more connected, automated, and efficient supply chain. And that’s incredibly exciting to be a part of.”
