Get to know some of our current interns, and find out why they’re pursuing a career in technology, their experiences at WiseTech so far, and advice for their younger selves.
What are you studying and where?
I’m studying a Bachelor of Information Technology at UTS. I graduate at the end of this year in November 2022!
Why did you decide to study your degree?
I chose to study an IT degree because as a kid I loved the cool and different things I could do with a computer, and I think the passion carried onto my teenage years.
Have you always known you wanted to work in tech?
I had a couple moments when I wanted to be an astronaut! But other than that I knew I’d be doing something tech related.
Which team are you currently in at WiseTech and what sort of work are you doing?
I’m currently within the WiseTech Academy team, and I’m a product associate intern. I work with the business side of things, such as finding requirements and making guides, and handing them off to the development team.
What was it about WiseTech that appealed to you?
The thing that appealed the most to me about WiseTech was the unique way of thinking and working with things that they showcase, and the heavy emphasis of solving problems through technology.
What are you hoping to get out of your time at WiseTech?
I’m hoping to see how an organization such as WiseTech is able to grow and flourish after seeing all the things they’re achieving in the news. As well as seeing how a business like this works and how the different areas interact with technology and each other.
What (or who) inspires or motivates you in life?
My family, friends and my dog really, as well as seeing cool people achieve cool things.
If you could choose anyone to mentor you, who would it be and why?
Maybe Elon Musk because I wanted to be an astronaut and I like space and technology, and he covers both bases. He probably also has good life advice!
What advice would you give your younger self?
To worry less and ask my parents to buy bitcoin.
