Behind each person who launches their career at WiseTech, you’ll find a network of people supporting their growth.
For our finance graduates, Siti Mohd Ali is a key support. Siti's role as Finance Development and Graduate Program Partner involves supporting new graduates, helping them find their feet as they navigate a new and unfamiliar environment.
A pivot from history to accounting
Siti’s journey into finance wasn’t typical. After achieving a Bachelor of Arts Majoring in History and Asian Studies, she began her career at KPMG, where she completed a Chartered Accountant qualification (CA) and stayed for over four years.
While working at KPMG, Siti was approached by someone at WiseTech about a Senior Accountant role in Capitalized Development.
"It was quite a unique role that acted as a bridge between product, engineering, and finance. It offered exposure to learning about the business itself as well as how different teams operate across the company," Siti reflects.
Before making a decision, she spoke to a friend who mentioned visiting the WiseTech office through his work and spoke highly of the smart and friendly people he met.
“That really stuck with me and ultimately helped me make the decision to join,” Siti explains.
Siti joined WiseTech in 2022, and not long after, she managed to bring that same friend into the business. He’s still working at WiseTech today.
Support through changing priorities
Around 18 months into the role, Siti went on parental leave. When the time came to return, Siti decided she’d prefer to work in a part-time capacity.
Her people leader was supportive throughout the process and together they discussed Siti’s future career goals and priorities to figure out her next steps.
Siti was offered three part-time roles at WiseTech, and one stood out, which was an opportunity to work with people at the start of their career in finance.
“Flexibility was key. I wanted to be a hands-on mum, but I also enjoyed coaching and mentoring new talent. This role gave me both” she shares.
Combining two passions: finance and people
Today, Siti plays a leading role in shaping the experience of every finance graduate who joins WiseTech. She supports their learning and rotations, acts as a mentor, and helps them build confidence to explore the many paths a career in finance can take.
“We’re looking for grads who are curious, open-minded, and not afraid to ask questions. The program is rigorous, but it’s incredibly rewarding.”
A typical week supporting WiseTech finance graduates
Siti’s typical working week includes a mix of collaborative office days, full of face-to-face connections and graduate check-ins, and quiet focus time at home. It's a balance that reflects the structure of the program and the flexibility WiseTech builds into its company culture.
Graduates follow structured six-month rotations through different finance teams in the business, gaining deep insight into various aspects of finance, while progressing their professional qualifications.
A place where people and ideas grow
Siti believes the program’s strength lies in its variety, exposing graduates to cross functional knowledge and technical skills in the context of a high-growth global technology company.
“Even in finance, we’re encouraged to think like problem-solvers. That tech mindset of continuous improvement is really empowering.”
“It’s a great fit for people who want to try things, challenge themselves, and figure out what they love,” Siti explains.
“One of the things that drew me to WiseTech was how real diversity feels. Many of our leaders are young, from a wide range of backgrounds, and have been recognized for their individual contributions. That culture continues to inspire me, and now I get to pay it forward.”
