With the current state of the world, logistics organizations are facing new and varied challenges that they never had before, and it's more difficult than ever to get things around the world.

At WiseTech Global, our software enables the largest organizations in the world to do what they need to do to connect the world. As a result, developers at WiseTech are having a direct impact on the way that goods are moved from one place to another, such as sending medical supplies or PPE equipment across borders.

It’s never been a more important time for our customers to be using our software, and it's never been a more exciting time for us as a team to be continuing to deliver that software to our customers.

With that in mind, we’re always on the look out for passionate, curious and ambitious people who want to add value and make a real difference.

Do you love solving complex problems and want to make a global impact? Then here are my top tips for getting a foot in the door at WiseTech.

Create a stand-out CV

There's a few key things that every software developer should put on their resume when they're applying for a role at WiseTech. If you're at a student level, it's always great for us to be able to see what you've been putting on your GitHub, or any open source projects you're contributing to, or even school projects you’ve worked on. If you have a personal website or a Stack Overflow account, they’re great to include as well.

When it comes to your CV, it's important not to just list every single technology that you may have worked with for one week. Instead, list the technologies that you're really confident using and that you're comfortable talking about. If there are other areas you want to learn, feel free to call that out and say, “I haven't learned these yet, but I'm really interested in learning this particular technology.” It’s also important to be clear and concise. What did you deliver? What are the achievements you’re most proud of? What are your areas of expertise?

Tell us why you want to work here

We look for people who want to be a part of our journey and part of our story, so in your cover letter be sure to include your motivations for joining WiseTech. We want to understand why you’re applying for this role, why WiseTech is right for you, and what you’re hoping to achieve in your career.

Who are you, really?

In addition to technical skills and experience, the one thing that we always look for when hiring software developers is curiosity. We look for people that aren't just satisfied when something works, they want to know why and how it works, and then they want to make it work better. What we’re really looking for is a curious mindset, a desire to learn and problem-solve, and an ability to think outside the box. Tell us about that coding competition you did in your spare time, or a complex problem you solved just for fun.

We want our people to bring their true selves to work, so don’t be afraid to show us who you really are and what makes you, you.
